“UBS has had a tremendous year across the region. The bank stood out by showing that the collaboration of its investment banking business with wealth management has worked better than ever in both debt and equity capital markets. This demonstrates that banks don’t need to carry huge loan books or trading platforms to be competitive and profitable,” said Steve Garton, Editor of IFR Asia.

The IFR Asia Awards will be presented at the 17th Annual IFR Awards Gala Dinner, on 19 February, 2014, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong. Attended by more than 300 investment bankers from around the region, the evening will feature Tim Harford, renowned BBC Radio 4 Presenter and Financial Times columnist, as a guest speaker. The dinner will also be a fund raising event for Save the Children, a charity that looks to save children’s lives in more than 120 countries.

About IFR Asia Awards

The Award winners are selected by IFR Asia's expert capital markets journalists. Starting in October, the journalists embark on an exhausting round of interviews with market participants. These meetings give an opportunity for capital markets professionals to stake their claim to individual awards and to give their views on the performance of their peers. They also give the reporters the chance to gauge the market’s thoughts on the most important transactions of the year. In addition, the IFR Asia team takes soundings from treasurers and investors before deciding on a shortlist in each award category. The final decision is then made by the senior IFR Asia editorial team.
