Thomson Reuters Eikon scoops Commodity Business Award

Commodities team earns award for excellence in commodity logistics plus two further commendations

New York/London –– Thomson Reuters, the world’s leading source of intelligent information for businesses and professionals, has earned the award for “excellence in commodity logistics” at this year’s Commodity Business Awards for its flagship desktop for financial services professionals, Eikon, and scooped a two further special commendations for technology and data management.

The awards recognise the many new and enhanced features on Eikon. Among the more than 400 innovations last year, the visualisation technology used in tools such as Interactive Map and Power Curve revolutionise how users can see data, improving the efficiency of their decision-making. New developments such as the Agriculture Weather Dashboard can offer incisive insight on risk, visualising weather anomalies in corn and soy growing areas.

The awards are the result of a combined vote from readers of Commodities Now and an expert panel, and therefore represent the views of active professionals in the world’s commodity markets. Such awards offer an authoritative user perspective of the services and platforms they use daily, reflecting their need for breadth and depth of information across the markets.

“We are particularly pleased that this recognition comes from our valued clients as well as the expert judges,” said Stefan Reichenbach, Thomson Reuters global head of market insight.

“We continue to innovate to provide our clients with ever greater insights into all aspects of commodity trading at all times across the globe. Innovations such as our Commodity Flows module can show the movement of oil, gas, coal, iron ore or agricultural products at any time, anywhere. We aim to continue to set new standards for finding, analyzing and understanding information on commodities, combining reliable databases with unique, intuitive displays.”

The awards were presented at the annual Commodity Business Awards dinner, at the Savoy Hotel, London, on Wednesday, December 3.

As well as the award for excellence in commodity logistics, Thomson Reuters Eikon earned special commendations in the categories “excellence in commodity data management” and “excellence in commodity trading and operations technology”.
