Marrakesh, Morocco - Thomson Reuters, the world’s leading source of intelligent information for businesses and professionals, will participate as a Knowledge Partner in the 5th Global Entrepreneurship Summit set to take place from November 19th to 21st in Marrakesh, Morocco.

The Kingdom of Morocco hosts the 5th Global Entrepreneurship Summit, held under the theme “Harnessing the Power of Technology for Innovation and Entrepreneurship”. The event will bring together more than 3000 entrepreneurs, heads of state, high level government officials, global entrepreneurs, small medium enterprises (SMEs), corporate leaders, and young entrepreneurs.

Si Mohamed Methqal, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Kingdom of Morocco, said:

“SMEs make a significant contribution to the MENA economies by creating jobs and bringing exciting innovation in to the marketplace. During the last decade, Morocco has developed a vibrant SME segment and contributed to foster entrepreneurship across various economic sectors: IT, automobile, aeronautics, electronics, agri-business, and others. Our country has become a regional hub for SMEs in Africa and at the door-step of Europe. We are delighted to have Thomson Reuters aboard as a Knowledge Partner of the GES 2014, which aims to connect entrepreneurs and innovators from Africa and around the world.”

Nadim Najjar, managing director for the Middle East & North Africa at Thomson Reuters, said:

“Thomson Reuters have been working with regulators and governments across the region to support and help grow small and medium size businesses. In line with these efforts, we created a specialized platform called Business Pulse offering entrepreneurs and SME business owners a viable and efficient foundation that would enable them to turn their business ideas into reality.”

“We are pleased to be among the knowledge partners at this prestigious event. We would like to provide entrepreneurs and business owners the support to manage their business activities as well as access to financing, networking opportunities to meet like-minded professionals and visibility on the investment landscape to help establish, promote and grow their business,” he added.

Mr. Najjar concluded: “Thomson Reuters participation comes in line with our role as a key contributor to the growth of local markets through enhancing transparency, offering quality content, helping companies function better, and assisting professionals to make informed business decisions across the MENA markets.”

GES was launched by United States President Barack Obama in 2009 as a global platform “to empower entrepreneurs with the skills and resources necessary to compete and thrive in the 21st century.”
