Thomson Reuters Announces Winners of 2015 StarMine Analyst Awards – U.S.

Goldman Sachs recognized as the top brokerage firm; Gail Glazerman, of UBS and Maynard Um, of Wells Fargo Securities, take top individual awards

New York – Thomson Reuters today announced the winners of the 2015 StarMine Analyst Awards for the U.S. This is the tenth year that StarMine has presented its awards to the top stock analysts and brokerage firms in the U.S.

StarMine, a leading provider of objective ratings of sell-side securities analysts, measures the performance of analysts based on the industry excess returns of their buy and sell recommendations and the accuracy of their earnings estimates. The 2015 awards recognise the sell-side analysts who have shown outstanding performance either as stock pickers based on the calendar year of 2014, and/or earnings estimators on quarterly periods that reported between April 1, 2014 and March 31, 2015.

“We are honored to be named by StarMine as the top ranked broker in the U.S. this year,” said Robert Boroujerdi, head of Americas Equity Research at Goldman Sachs.  “Our Research Division aims to produce accurate forecasts, analyses and stock recommendations for our clients, and we’re proud that the team’s hard work has been recognized.”

Raj Shah, head of StarMine sell-side research at Thomson Reuters, added, “StarMine recognizes that stock picking and estimates accuracy are among the most coveted intelligence provided by sell-side analysts. The winning analysts sifted deep into their industries and distilled more research insights to help their discerning institutional investors understand and interpret emerging signals. By providing truly differentiated research and extracting outsized returns from their coverage, these analysts stood out in the eyes of the investor community for their outstanding performance. Congratulations to all of this year’s ranked analysts.”

Analysts are awarded prizes in three main categories: stock recommendation performance relative to specific industry benchmarks (“Stock Pickers”), accuracy in forecasting earnings as compared with peers (“Earnings Estimators”) and brokerage firms whose analysts win the most awards (“Most Award-Winning Brokers”).
