Thomson Reuters Enhances Firm Central Practice Management Suite

Enhanced integrated time & billing tools, and new task-management features

EAGAN, MINN. Thomson Reuters continues to enhance Firm Central, enabling solo and small law firm attorneys to better tackle administrative tasks and increase efficiency – two of the largest struggles commonly faced in their practices.

Firm Central, the leading cloud-based practice management solution for solo and small law firms, now offers desktop compatibility with Outlook® 2016 and Windows® 10, task assignment functions, and new reporting capabilities and widgets in its integrated Time & Billing component.

Assign a Task makes it easy to create, assign, notify, sort and filter tasks. A user can select a client and matter, create a new task, and assign that task to another user on the matter team. Designations of “New”, “Due Soon” and “Overdue”, help users manage and organize their schedules and stay on top of important tasks and deadlines. Assign a Task also includes a “read only” permission level, the ability to mark tasks as complete, and a tracker to designate who created, assigned and modified a task.

Firm Central’s integrated Time & Billing, introduced earlier this year, now easily generates commonly requested reports. In addition, frequently accessed information can be viewed within the Firm Central dashboard. New Time & Billing widgets on individual matter pages allow users to enter time, view time and expenses, and view overall financial summaries, such as outstanding balances and trust balances, for each matter.

“Now more than ever, Firm Central gives the solo attorney or small firm attorney the ability to spend less time managing the business and administrative aspect of the practice and focus more on actually practicing law,” said Karl Florida, managing director, small law firm segment, Thomson Reuters. “We look forward to continuing to find new and better ways to help attorneys enjoy the most efficient modes possible for running their practices.”

Firm Central introduced a fully integrated time and billing feature in January to enter and track time within the Firm Central dashboard. The feature also integrates with QuickBooks Online for seamless accounting and bookkeeping. With its continual evolution, Firm Central today offers the most comprehensive legal practice management software to help solo and small law firms manage and perform client work more efficiently by combining firm management tools, such as scheduling and time & billing, with practice resources, such as legal research, rules-based calendaring and automated document drafting. It allows firms to easily store, organize and share information in one integrated, secure platform.
