New Product Enhancements from Thomson Reuters Prioritize Greater Security, More Automated Workflow and Improved User Experience
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Thomson Reuters announced a multitude of product upgrades at its 36th annual SYNERGY users’ conference, one of the longest running events of its kind in the tax and accounting profession. This year’s event placed special emphasis on clean and intuitive user experience, increased security capabilities, collaborative document management and workflow features, and enhanced integration across desktop, cloud and mobile platforms. Upgrades were spotlighted across 17 products in the CS Professional Suite, Onvio and Checkpoint product lines.
Among the enhancements announced at SYNERGY 2016, a major focus was placed on implementing new security standards and safeguards for the coming year. For instance, Thomson Reuters has engineered its products to now provide a consistent username and password convention across the entirety of the CS Professional Suite. Another major development, to be released later this month, is Thomson Reuters Authenticator, a multi-factor authentication app (Apple and Android compatible) which provides user verification using at least two forms of identity check, thereby providing firms and their clients even more protection against cyber threats.
Notable with this new level of security is that it’s being implemented for all products for Thomson Reuters – even on-premise software – which can allow firms to avail themselves of state-of-the-art security measures across the board. Jon Baron, managing director of the Professional segment of Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting business, stated, “Data security has always been at the forefront of our priorities, and Thomson Reuters Authenticator is another step in our commitment to provide our customers with the tools to protect themselves in the constantly connected digital world of today.”
With this new feature, Thomson Reuters will provide embedded security controls that offer convenient and secure user authentication for firm staff and firm clients. Thomson Reuters Authenticator will be available for both cloud-based and desktop deployments, and it will give partners and firm leaders peace of mind amidst the backdrop of a profession increasingly under attack from cyber criminals.
Another key highlight was the continued evolution of the Onvio platform, where new products were previewed in the areas of project management and trial balance, in addition to enhancements to Onvio Client Center, Onvio Documents and Onvio Workpapers
Thomson Reuters also unveiled an innovative new integration between Thomson Reuters AdvanceFlow and Checkpoint Engage, creating a completely online audit workflow. Thanks to this breakthrough in cloud-based audit functionality, AdvanceFlow (as well as Onvio Workpapers) customers who are also using Checkpoint Engage for their research will be able to achieve the first fully online audit workflow.
A continued area of focus is around continued enhancements to existing products, based on customer feedback. “Everything we’ve done with our products has come either from direct requests from our customers, or a direct customer interaction developing, test driving and assessing the changes,” said Jordan Kleinsmith, product manager with the Professional segment of Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting. “For most products, we have Ideas Communities where practitioners make requests for the new features and capabilities they would like to see incorporated into our technology solutions. The Ideas Communities give their peers the opportunity to weigh in on those suggestions and vote them up or down, and ultimately gives Thomson Reuters a dynamic gauge on what items are going to achieve that critical mass that will benefit a significant portion of our customer base.”
“Since launching our Users’ Conference in Fort Lauderdale in 1981, we have used it annually as a platform to showcase new technologies as well as thought leadership and peer-to-peer exchanges of best practices,” said Baron. “My message about our focus on cyber security, continued investment in our current products, and further advancement of our Onvio cloud based suite resonated with our attendees. Our customers have come to rely on Thomson Reuters to continually push the envelope on what’s possible with technological advances, and given the feedback we received from this year’s attendees, we have yet again harnessed the pulse of the profession to help forge an even better partnership moving forward between practitioners and our team at Thomson Reuters.”
