CARROLTON, TX – Thomson Reuters today announced the results of its summer-long fundraising campaign benefitting the American Heart Association (AHA), which culminated with the AHA Heart Walk in Dallas on Sept. 10. Since June, the team of over 1,000 employees based in the company’s Carrollton, Texas headquarters, organized and participated in more than 27 separate fundraising events and activities in support of AHA.

“Our outstanding team in Carrollton activated in force to far surpass our original fundraising goal of $100,000,” said Brian Peccarelli, president of the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters. “Heart disease touches every one of us directly or indirectly, and it’s up to each of us to do our part to bring an end to it by supporting the education and research efforts of AHA.”

This year’s fundraising efforts included auctioning off of coveted parking spots; a karaoke contest; a school pride contest; a heart-healthy cooking contest; snack sales; $5 shorts and flip flop Fridays; and donations in exchange for professional headshots.

This year’s contribution amount, which currently stands at $145,960, placed Thomson Reuters among the Top 5 local fundraising companies ahead of the Dallas AHA Heart Walk.

Since Thomson Reuters launched its partnership with AHA in 2013, the company has contributed more than $236,000 to the non-profit. Last year, the Carrollton team’s efforts yielded more than $61,000 in donations to AHA, exceeding the 2015 goal of $50,000.
