Thomson Reuters Wins Two Software Excellence Awards
LONDON – Thomson Reuters has picked up two Software Excellence Awards in recognition of its pioneering work in championing excellence in its Making Tax Digital (MTD) software and client service.
Mark Purdue, tax product manager within the tax and accounting business of Thomson Reuters, was named the 2017 Software Excellence Pioneer – publicly acknowledging his contribution to the accounting profession and client satisfaction.
Thomson Reuters also won the award for Making Tax Digital Software of the Year for its Onvio product – crediting its leading approach in providing much needed answers, technology and support around the biggest challenge facing UK accountants today.
Both awards were announced at The Software Excellence Awards in London on 19 October 2017, part of AccountingWEB’s landmark Practice Excellence programme of events which inspire and celebrate the accounting profession. The awards were judged by an expert panel of judges, including John Stokdyk from AccountingWEB, Duane Jackson from Supdate, Sharon Pocock of Kinder Pocock, Stephen Paul from Valued Accounts, and Chris Downing from Milsted Langdon.
John Stokdyk, judge and AccountingWEB’s global editor, said: “Mark Purdue was our unanimous choice as Software Excellence Pioneer of the Year for his efforts to educate countless thousands of accountants about MTD during the past 12 months. The award also recognizes his role as a champion in industry circles and for effectively representing the concerns of his peers and customers in conversations with HMRC around the tax digitisation project.
"Mark's pioneering efforts were also evident in Onvio's win in the specialist MTD Software of the Year category. The regular and early updates from Thomson Reuters around its MTD product plans influenced all of the judges, as did the first-hand evidence from its MTD test pilot Gary Jacobs. Making Tax Digital remains a moving target with few fixed points for developers, but Thomson Reuters has clearly identified and made significant headway on the full range of requirements that practitioners will need to manage digital tax."
Mark Purdue, said: “It’s not every day you receive an award for doing your job, and even being shortlisted came as a real surprise as I didn’t even know I’d been nominated.
“It’s a real honor to be recognized both personally and as a company for helping our customers and the accounting profession to understand the changes, prepare early and benefit from the digital tax challenges ahead. But we won’t rest on our laurels – there’s still more work to be done.”
