Thomson Reuters Introduces Marketplace, Launches Legal Home

New offerings continue drive to deliver interoperability and deeper integration, providing a glimpse into the future of software for legal and tax professionals

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, November 17, 2020 Thomson Reuters today announced two new offerings, Thomson Reuters Marketplace and Thomson Reuters Legal Home, in its continued push to deliver solutions that simplify workflows.

Thomson Reuters Marketplace, still in beta, is an online store where users can research, trial and purchase a wide range of trusted and tested solutions. The applications, solutions and services available will add greater value to the technology investments users have already made.

Thomson Reuters Legal Home is an integrated digital launchpad serving as a central entry point for legal professionals to seamlessly access essential resources and information in one place.

“Our customers have shared the need for solutions such as Thomson Reuters Marketplace and Legal Home, and we are in a unique position to meet these needs,” said Irish McIntyre, head of Legal Software and Workflow for Thomson Reuters. “These solutions will help our customers derive more value from the investment they have made in products, technology and services. We are delivering product interoperability around our customers’ workflows; it is about performing work, not onboarding tools.”

Both Marketplace and Legal Home connect customers to multiple features within Thomson Reuters HighQ, as well as many of the company’s legal products, including Westlaw and Practical Law. In addition, Marketplace offers key integrations to 3E for legal professionals and enables corporate tax professionals to connect solutions through Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE. Thomson Reuters will continue to expand Marketplace, growing the offerings for legal, tax and accounting professionals as well as adding solutions for government and regulatory customers.

Connecting Solutions that Add Value

Thomson Reuters Marketplace, currently in beta and available globally beginning in February 2021, is an open environment where users can test nearly 50 solutions and will provide a wide range of offerings spanning the Thomson Reuters product portfolio. Marketplace provides customers with choices to extend the functionality of the products they use every day, and it offers an industry advantage through its “proven path” of vetted applications and solutions that seamlessly integrate with Thomson Reuters products and technology, offering a greater return on investment. Also, Marketplace connects users to many of the powerful features of HighQ, including enhancing their workflows with ready-to-use solution templates.

KPMG Law, which provides clients with legal business solutions based on its strong legal capabilities coupled with its insight and expertise, will be listed on Marketplace. “Being a part of Thomson Reuters Marketplace enables KPMG Law to make its services and expertise readily available and accessible to a broad network,” said James Thomas, head of Legal Technology & Innovation at KPMG Law in the UK. “We’re looking forward to working with businesses to ensure their journey towards a more digitized legal department is successful, from both a people-process and technology perspective.”

KPMG Law’s offering will include a growing suite of productized legal solutions that have been built on the HighQ platform; services to help clients properly configure HighQ when accessing Marketplace’s solution templates; and access to services provided by KPMG’s Legal Operations and Transformation Services team, including change management, process optimization and operating model assessment.

Workflow Entry Point

Thomson Reuters Legal Home, an integrated digital workspace, is a central launch pad for legal professionals to tap into essential resources and navigate their work. Delivering seamless access to Thomson Reuters applications through a single sign-on, Legal Home brings together filtered information from multiple applications and sources, making it a convenient place to start and manage each day.

Legal Home also provides a detailed view into a user’s HighQ sites and activity feeds, across multiple instances, to stay up to date on key tasks for matters and projects. Users also can quickly retrieve their recent Office 365 documents and add personal links to regularly visited sites for ease of access. Additionally, the latest news and industry developments are available and delivered through Practical Law Legal Updates.

Legal Home, free to Thomson Reuters customers, is now available in the U.S. and UK, and will soon be available in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Continued Integration

Building on the recent integrations of Contract Express and Legal Tracker, Thomson Reuters will begin migrating key functionality of Thomson Reuters Panoramic into HighQ. HighQ already offers robust capabilities, including task management and social collaboration, that many customers use for legal project management. Moving forward, the business will integrate many of the central capabilities of Panoramic into HighQ, including Matter Maps, the financials of 3E, and situation-relevant Practical Law guidance.

“We are continually looking to deliver solutions that generate efficiencies, reduce costs, improve accuracy and minimize risks for customers,” added McIntyre. “Integrating Panoramic with HighQ will ultimately provide an enhanced legal project and workflow management experience that leverages the best of Panoramic and the best of HighQ.”
