GoFileRoom 21 October, 2024 release notes

GoFileRoom

  • Export multiple documents
The ability to export multiple documents, with a single action, is now an available selection in the
    Document Search
    screen.
  • Sign in history report
    When making the
    External Users
    selection, the application displayed
    No matches found
. We've restored the ability and you can view your client’s sign-in history via NetClient ClientFlow.
  • Records management and recycle bin
This release addresses an issue where certain documents wouldn’t purge as expected from the recycling bin. This is now working as expected.
  • Add document type:
    Add File Link
We restored the functionality of the
    Add File as Link
    option (
    Add Documents
    , then
    Add File Link
). This feature is particularly useful for privately sharing documents outside of the GoFileRoom application and/or beyond the scope of client engagements. You and a small audience within your firm can keep these files secure, making it ideal for managing sensitive and confidential resources. This feature can be applied to Microsoft SharePoint files, website URLs, and other cloud-based documents applications that your firm leverages.

GoFileRoom Add-Ins: Version 24.2.2

We are excited to deliver several improvements to this version of the GoFileRoom Add-In. The GoFileRoom development team has focused on improving the sign-in and sign-out experience, and easing the administration surrounding the support and installation of the Add-in.
Key benefits
  • We’ve consolidated all legacy GoFileRoom Add-In installation processes into a single installer
    GoFileRoom-Add-In.exe
. This unified installer covers all modules and features, including integrations with Adobe Acrobat, GoFileRoom ScanFlow, GoFileRoom ControlPanel, Microsoft Office, and GoFileRoom QuickLaunch.
  • Review this article for installation help: GoFileRoom Add-In Installation
  • We’ve improved the sign in and sign out experience. The user authentication process has been improved to share your credentials across all GoFileRoom Add-In features. This enhancement reduces the number of sign-ins required, providing a more streamlined and efficient user experience.
  • Better recognition when you are signed in to another component of the Add-in modules, further simplifying your authentication process.
  • We've made improvements to the Add-In icon’s right-click options from your Windows notification area. The following options are now available:
    • Sign Out
: The Sign Out as [username] option is now available. When selecting this, the application will end all GoFileRoom Add-In sessions. This is especially important if you are sharing the PC with other staff members or in situations where you want to ensure all Thomson Reuters Account sessions are closed when work is complete on the workstation.
    • Exit
: This selection will close the GoFileRoom ControlPanel, or the GoFileRoom QuickLaunch, while keeping the user signed in. Subsequent use of the Add-in won’t again prompt you to sign in. Knowing the key differences between
      Exit
      versus
      Sign Out
will help you and your team to move faster.
    • Profiles
: This right-click option is available within the GoFileRoom ControlPanel. It offers you the convenience of being able to quickly view and search documents in GoFileRoom based on the predefined indexes of saved
      Profiles
. This is a terrific option to use if you have a search that is performed often, maybe for a specific client that you serve. This menu is only displayed when signed in.
  • For assistance in creating a ControlPanel Profile, review this help topic.
  • From within Microsoft Office applications, we've given an About option from the menu bar that provides you with the Office version installed. This option has been added so that you can quickly discover the version of Microsoft Office and the GoFileRoom Add-in installed. We hope that making this information easy to find will assist when working with Thomson Reuters Support, troubleshooting, or checking your currently installed versions.
  • We've improved the GoFileRoom Add-in to work more effectively with Chromium-based web browsers, eliminating the need for legacy Internet Explorer (IE) dependencies. While these improvements can't be directly seen while managing your work, the technology upgrades will contribute to better stability, faster performance, and facilitate our future development of new features.
  • Viewing a Microsoft Outlook file (.MSG) saved in GoFileRoom will no longer leave the document in a checked-out state after being viewed. The Control Panel won’t display these files in the batches tab.
  • We’ve addressed an Adobe issue impacting Federated Single Sign-on (SSO) features. GoFileRoom ScanFlow will now function as expected with SSO turned on.
  • We fixed an issue related to opening an Adobe Cloud File that resulted in the Adobe application crash.

Technical notes

  • GoFileRoom Add-ins support both 32-bit and 64-bit Adobe versions.
  • The GoFileRoom Add-In will remove previously installed versions of the Add-Ins during the installation process. If troubleshooting is required, it is recommended to validate that all previous versions of the GoFileRoom Add-in and ScanFlow Add-ins have been uninstalled.
  • We introduced a new GFRAddInLib dll that is used by the Microsoft Office-Add-In, ControlPanel, and QuickLaunch.
    C:\Program Files (x86)\GoFileRoom\Common Files
. This helps the Add-In modules to centralize authentication, and supports the new streamlined sign-in process.
  • We modernized legacy code and introduced a new
    AdapterNet.exe
to help ScanFlow, Adobe, and PrintToGFR. This protocol is used alongside of the new GFRAddInLib library in the backend, and facilitates the new sign-In experience.
  • During the GoFileRoom-Add-In installation process, the GFRInstallerHelper component exists to set permissions and Authenticate users with 2 keys in the registry. This may vary depending on the Operating System (for example, 32/64 bit).
