Common questions about the Thomson Reuters Account upgrade for Legal customers

These are common questions about the Thomson Reuters Account upgrade for customers that use Legal applications like Practical Law, Westlaw, etc.
  • Why do I need to use my verified email?
    • Thomson Reuters Account provides innovative, industry-leading User Authentication, ensuring best-in-class security and end user experience.
    • A verified email ensures your account is further protected and provides you with improved flexibility and self-service options.
  • Am I required to have two-factor authentication?
    • Two-factor authentication (2FA) methods can be enabled but are only required if your existing products and functionality currently use 2FA.
  • What actions do I need to take?
    • Before you migrate, you will need access to a verifiable email and your current password. If you currently do not know your password, it will need to be reset. Please select “Forgot Password” in your current product login or contact Customer Support  for assistance.
    • When your migration begins at the time of login, you will receive on-screen instructions via simple, intuitive self-serve migration flow.
  • Will I be required to migrate to TR Account the first day I am prompted at login?
    • A short-term deferral window for migration will be provided if you prefer to verify your email at a more convenient time.
    • When you login you will be able to see the number of remaining days for you to migrate and will be required to verify your email by the final day of your window.
  • What happens to my MyAccount/ Customer Service Portal?
    • All your current OnePass authenticated products will migrate together, including your My Account/Customer Service Portal login. After completing your Thomson Reuters Account migration simply use your verified email and password to access My Account / Customer Service Portal.
    • If you are a Customer Service Portal Admin user without a current reg key, you will also be migrated with a unique process tailored to your admin account. If MFA is currently set up, will  I be alerted at first login to re-enroll my two-factor authentication? If your products are currently enabled for MFA / 2FA you will be required to re-enroll in any two-factor authentication methods to ensure secure access.
  • Will API customers be affected?
    • At the moment, API customers are unaffected.  There are plans to roll out changes to API configuration as adoption of the new Thomson Reuters Account continues across our business and with our customers.  There will be specific details shared when the time comes to prepare for those changes.
  • How many times/how often will it ask to validate my email address?
    • You should only need to validate your email address once.  However, if you need to change or update your email address, then you will be asked to verify that new email address, so that we can ensure that your account is always supported by an email address that you own.
