Setting Up Matter Upload

You can use matter upload to create any matter for which your company has an active matter type template.
The first step to setting up matter upload is to activate the
Associated Matter ID
field for each of the matter types that you want to be updated using matter upload. The matter ID is the unique identifier used in an associated system, such as the source system for matter information.
To activate the associated matter ID field:
  1. Select
    Settings
    in the left navigation.
  2. In the
    Matters Setup
    section, click
    Matter Types-templates & Matter Setup
    .
  3. Select the matter type that you want to use matter upload for.
  4. Under
    Field Options
    , select the
    Associated Matter ID
    check box.
  5. On the toolbar, select
    Save & close
    .
Repeat this procedure for each matter type and grant access to the appropriate users.

Next Steps

Next, you must decide whether to enable automatic notifications to matter participants. When an individual matter is created or modified, matter participants automatically receive email notifications. You can make these notifications optional when multiple matters are created with matter upload. Whether you allow automatic notifications depends on how many matters you anticipate uploading. Be aware that the email inboxes of matter participants might be overloaded when multiple matters are created. This option is controlled by the Require Matter Upload Email Notification on the Miscellaneous matter option page (
Settings
>
Matters Setup
>
Miscellaneous Matter Options
).
You must also enable the ability to use matter upload to the appropriate users. You can grant matter upload access to company system administrators, company office administrators, and matter creators. To do this, you will edit the administrative profile for the appropriate users.
