Submitting a File to Matter Upload

After you create a data file of new, updated, or closed matters, complete these tasks to upload the file and correct any errors.

Upload a data file (test or submit)

  1. Click
    Matters
    >
    Matter Upload
    in the left navigation.
  2. Select the file type that you want to upload (csv, tab, or pipe).
  3. Select the date format of your file.
  4. Select one of the following Function options:
    • Create
      : To create new matters.
    • Update
      : To update matters that already exist in Tracker.
    • Close
      : To close matters that already exist in Tracker.
  5. (Optional) Select the
    Test Only
    check box to test for errors in your file without submitting any data to Tracker.
  6. Click
    Browse
    to select the data file.
  7. If the Email Notifications check boxes are available, you can choose to send notifications to matter participants in the company, law firm, or both.
    Note
    : If the check boxes are not available, matter participants are automatically notified.
  8. On the toolbar, click
    Upload
    .
Success and error information is displayed in the
Results
section.

Review and correct errors

If your data file contains errors, there are two ways to view the details: If there are only a few errors, you can refer to the list in the Results section. If there are numerous errors, you might want to download a spreadsheet with the details.
Refer to the Results section
  1. Refer to the details in the
    Results
    section while you correct the data file.
  2. Click the expand button (downward arrow) to return to the
    Matter Upload
    section.
  3. Repeat the upload procedure to test or submit the corrected file.
Download a spreadsheet
On the Matter Upload Audit History page, you can download a spreadsheet of the errors in the data file.
  1. On the toolbar, click the three small dots icon, then click
    View history
    .
  2. Find the data file that you just uploaded and in the
    Result File
    column, click
    Download results
    . Every error in the data file is listed by row in this results file.
  3. Refer to the details in the results file while you correct the data file.
  4. Repeat the upload procedure to test or submit the corrected file.
