Import clients not enrolled as offline clients

If you imported 100 standard clients and 10 of those clients haven’t signed up to TaxCaddy, then you can run an updated import to add any unconnected clients as offline clients. If the client does connect with your firm, the Standard (online) client status will be updated to
Connected
, and the
Offline
profile's status will be updated to
Duplicate
.
  1. After importing
    Standard
    (Online) clients, you can use the same Excel file to import offline clients. Open the Excel file that you imported originally.
  2. On the top row, select
    Yes
    from the
    Is Offline
    dropdown to select the client as an offline client.
  3. Select the bottom corner of the
    Is Offline
    cell and drag it down to select all clients as offline clients. Only clients that haven’t accepted the connection request will be added. Clients that have accepted the connection request will be rejected automatically.
    If you initially uploaded offline clients then you can select
    No
    from the
    Is Offline
    dropdown to upload a standard client.
  4. Save the file as a new Excel file. We recommend renaming the file.
  5. When the file is ready for import, select the
    Import Clients
    tab, then drag the Excel file and place it on the drop-zone for
    Drag and drop completed import client template here
    .
  6. To initiate the import, select
    IMPORT CLIENTS
    . To remove the file, select
    Close
    .
  7. Once the import process is complete, select
    DOWNLOAD EXCEPTION REPORT
    from the Import Clients window to see which clients were imported. Clients that already accepted the connection request will fail the import process.
  8. On the Exception Report, if a standard online client already exists then the comment will say
    A connected client already exists with this Tax Client ID
    . Clients that have been successfully imported as offline clients won’t show any comments.
