UltraTax CS has an Excel Import utility where you can import asset information into a 706 return from a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. You'll need to use an Excel template we provide and follow some guidelines when entering data.
To get the Microsoft Excel template:
Open your File Explorer and go to
X:WinCSI\UTYY
where X: is the location UltraTax CS is installed, and YY is the 2-digit year of UltraTax CS you're using for the import.
Open the most recent
706US.ext,YY,V,V#00000...
folder, which should have the highest version number in the folder name. You can also use the Date Modified column to determine the most recent.
Open the
uYUSAsset.xls
(where Y is the last digit of the year of the program) file.
Save a copy of the template to a different location, and as a CSV file:
Select
Office
then
Save As
.
Browse to the location where you want to save the Excel spreadsheet.
Select
CSV (Comma delimited)(*.csv)
from the
Save as type
field.
Enter a new file name in the
File name
field.
Select
Save
.
Once you've created a copy of the template as a CSV file to a different location on your computer, review the guidelines for entering data.
