Permissions guidelines for CS Professional Suite

You might need to change the Windows permissions to successfully install and use CS Professional Suite applications.
important
Your IT professional should make these changes.

Recommended user permissions

Each user should have a local administrator account.
Users need full control over these directories and subdirectories:
  • C:\Users\[username]
  • C:\Windows\Temp

Recommended server permissions

All users need read, write, and modify access to the network location where your CS Professional Suite applications are installed.
All users need the same permissions for the application and data folders located in X:\WinCSI (where X represents the drive where the application is installed).
If your firm chooses to store data outside of the default WinCSI folder, all CS Professional Suite application data folders must also have read, write, and modify access for all users.

Permissions for all CS Professional Suite applications

All users need full control over the following locations, including any data locations that are not the default.
note
For 64-bit Windows operating systems, use the Program Files (x86) directory instead of the Program Files directory.
  • X:\WinCSI\Licenses
  • X:\WinCSI\Tools
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Thomson Reuters
If you're working in the Virtual Office CS or Software as a Service (SaaS) environment, these local locations need full control access:
  • C:\Program Files\Citrix\ICA Client
  • C:\Program Files\Citrix\Receiver
  • C:\Program Files\VO Citrix
  • C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\ICA Client
  • C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Citrix

Permissions for FileCabinet CS

Server/network locations:
  • X:\WinCSI\Cabinet
  • X:\WinCSI\FcabSys
  • X:\WinCSI\FcabData

  • C:\Windows\System32\spool\prtprocs\x64\csintprt.pdb
If you're using FileCabinet CS in a terminal server environment, an administrator needs to set the following permissions on the terminal server so that the FileCabinet CS print driver will work for non-administrator users.
  • C:\Windows\Temp must have ALLOW rights for everything except Write Attributes, Write Extended Attributes, Change Permissions, and Take Ownership.
  • C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\PRINTERS must have ALLOW rights for everything except Delete Subfolders & Files, Change Permissions, and Take Ownership.

User Account Control (UAC)

We recommend that you disable IAC because it may interfere with the installation, performance, and functionality of CS Professional Suite applications.
It might not be possible for you to disable UAC if your firm's network or security policy doesn't allow you to do so. Contact your IT professional to find out if there are changes that can be made to UAC.
