Due to the simplicity of the column type, only common configuration options are available (Column width, Mandatory, etc.), as the link and its display property are decided in the
Add item
entry form of the iSheet.
Adding a link
When adding a record, the Hyperlink column will present two fields:
Enter the display name
and
Enter URL
.
Once you have entered the URL you can preview the link to ensure it works before saving the record.
Once you have saved the record, the link will display in the table view.
When viewing the link in an iSheet item, only the display name is revealed. Clicking on the link opens the URL in a new window. If no display name is entered, the URL will be used as the display name.
Extended hyperlink support (UNC and file://)
As of September 2025, hyperlink columns can support UNC (Universal Naming Convention) and file:// links, in addition to HTTP or HTTPS links. If this is configured, items can link to local and network file resources.
note
Your instance must have been migrated to the Azure environment to support UNC and file:// links.
UNC and file:// links are not natively supported in most browsers - each user must install a browser extension to open additional link types.
Currently, UNC and file:// links are only supported in the legacy UI, not the modernised UI.
Enable Extended hyperlink support in System Settings
Open
System Admin
from your profile menu, then select
System Settings
, scroll to
Modernized iSheet Experience
.
Turn
Enable extended hyperlink protocol support
ON
and click
Save
.

Hyperlink paths in Excel import templates
When you export and open and then save an imported template with hyperlinks, Microsoft Excel (desktop version) automatically converts absolute file paths to relative paths,
if the linked files are in the same folder as the template (including in a subfolder of that folder)
.
This is the default behaviour in Microsoft Excel and means that when you import the template back into HighQ, some hyperlinks may no longer be valid absolute paths, causing validation errors.
Workarounds
Store the linked files outside the folder (or subfolders) used to save the Excel template. For example, place linked files on a different drive.
Alternatively, use Excel for the web (Excel Online) to open and save the template. Excel for the web does not convert absolute file paths to relative paths, so hyperlinks remain unchanged.
After you save the template, right-click and check that hyperlink addresses still point to the correct
absolute
locations.
Allow search
If
Allow search
is enabled, only the display name (the link text) will be searchable, not the URL string. However, if no display name text is entered and the URL is used as the display name, the URL string as the display name is searchable.
