General information for tax defaults
Prior to converting

Before the conversion process can begin: your firm administrator will need to be open, close the tax defaults in the most recent available tax year, and close them in the year prior. This is mandatory before your conversion. If this is not completed before you send the data, the conversion will stop and need to be restarted.
The tax defaults can always be accessed again later if you need to take more time establishing your default settings.
Tax return information
Use this Organizer to enter basic return data applicable to all returns. For example, number of copies, firm and preparer information, and tax authority authorizations.
Header information
Use this Organizer to suppress header information from printing on every page. Select the return type to suppress printing the information on each page.
Preseason options
Use this Organizer to enter basic preseason options.
- Enter the client mailing address.
- Select the options to suppress the rollover of client codes.
- Select the applicable option to suppress the proforma for 1040, 1041, and 1120 for federal and state estimated tax payments.
- Enter custom HASP numbers.
- Select options for printing 1040 Organizers.
Miscellaneous items
Use this Organizer to select the forms, schedules, and worksheets to include with the preparer, taxpayer, or government copies of the tax return.
Importing firm defaults
When you import firm defaults, all existing information is replaced except for the following:
- firm address (including street address when limited by the form)
- paid preparer address and phone (firm name will be imported)
- paid preparer lookup table
- fiduciary ID number for 1041
- electronic filing information
- preseason mailing address
- standard letterhead information for transmittal letters and filing instructions
- custom letterhead HASP numbers for transmittal letters and filing instructions.

Before you import for the first time, you should roll over any preexisting tax defaults for prior tax years.
- To import firm defaults, indicate if you want to import tax equalization. The default is not importing.
- SelectImport Firm Defaults.
Power of attorney
Use this Organizer to enter information for all possible representatives with the firm that could be utilized for a Power of Attorney.
