About GoSystem Tax RS conversions
The Tax Data Conversion Service converts your firm's data in another tax program so you can prepare organizers and tax returns in GoSystem Tax RS.
Not all conversions are the same. Each tax software vendor uses different database structures and processes to store your tax return data. For this reason, the data converted for each vendor is different.
For returns to be automatically rolled over, you need to complete the following steps:
- Purchase preseason at Thomson Reuters
- Authorize your account for processing
For automatic Organizer print, you need to do the following:
- Purchased preseason at Thomson Reuters
- Authorize your account for processing
- Purchased Organizer print
Warning!
If you don’t want Organizer print for a particular converted return, you need to suppress Organizer print. You have 24 hours from the time that the converted return is placed in your account to suppress print. The automatic processes run at 4:00 AM, 7:00 AM, and 10:00 PM CT.important
- Before you schedule a conversion, you have to open and complete tax defaults in GoSystem Tax RS. Refer to the general information for tax defaults article in related content for more information.
- We don't convert every item in all returns, just as we don't proforma each item in GoSystem Tax RS from one year to the next. Converted returns don't contain all the data from the original returns but will contain what you need to complete the return in the current system.
- 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, and 990 - All returns will now convert to the same tax year (current‑year to current‑year); the firm will complete the subsequent roll‑forward to the following year.
- Because the initial conversion is current‑year to current‑year, one locator is required for that step, with a second locator needed to roll the results forward into the subsequent year. Take care not to convert duplicate clients or test returns.

.Enterprise firms with a GoSystem Tax RS enterprise base license
We can convert CCH Axcess data for 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120C, 1120S, and 990*.
note
- Intended only for converting data using CCH Axcess TaxTransfer data files in-office
- Data is converted and imported via the API
- You need to own the CCH Axcess TaxTransfer product.
- You need to own a GoSystem Tax RS enterprise base license.
- *990 returns can be converted but they need to be sent to Thomson Reuters for processing. 990 is not available via the API currently.
Conversion process
To convert any return data, you will need to copy or back up the vendor data then send it to Thomson Reuters using a Secure Data Exchange created by Support.

Don’t send data through mail or email. Data sent this way won’t be converted.
Returns converted by Thomson Reuters
When we complete the conversion of your data, we place returns under your account number. We assign a unique identifier, called a locator number, to each converted return.
All returns will now convert to the same tax year (current‑year to current‑year); the firm will complete the subsequent roll‑forward to the following year.

You will need to rollover 1040 returns and generate printed Organizers as needed.
To view the converted files, from the GoSystem Tax Browser, on the top menu, select
Returns
. Then sort the list by Client Code
or Name
.If you purchased Organizer Print at Thomson Reuters, we print those Organizers at our facility when the conversion is complete. Contact Client Services to have Organizers printed at our facility, or you can print Organizers in your office.
