Ad-Hoc File Validation
The
Ad-Hoc File Validation
dock can be used to check for issues with a file that might arise during the import process. Examples include (but are not limited to):- The value in a field may exceed the maximum length (e.g. a 10-character value in an 8-character field).
- The value in a field may be the wrong data type (e.g. an alphanumeric character in a numeric-only field).
- A line may have an incorrect token count (e.g. finding a “1” when the system expects a to see a “70”).
This dock can be used to import a file at the user’s convenience rather than at a pre-scheduled time.

The ToolTip on this screen will display which file prefixes can be validated. This list will become visible when you hover the cursor over the
?
icon. This contains list of supported filters/formats for both Client Import and GFI (Generic File Import) for given partner.
Validating a File
To validate a file:
- Click on theChoose Filebutton.
- Select a file from the local drive to validate.

- After a file is selected, its name will appear on the screen. Click on theValidate Filebutton to proceed with the ad-hoc validation.

A file can only be validated if it matches one of the system’s available filters (listed in the ToolTip). If you attempt to upload a file that does not match one of these filters, the following validation will appear on the screen:

Clicking
Validate File
will prompt the system to validate the file. The same checks will be performed regardless of whether the validation is scheduled or ad-hoc.Any other lines with an issue will be displayed only with the first error of the line. If a file contains multiple issues, they will be identified in subsequent validations after the current error is resolved.

Generating an Error Report
To generate and send an error report to yourself, click on the
Send Report To Me
button.
To generate and send an error report to someone else:
- Click on theSend Report To Othersbutton.

- Input all addresses separated with a semicolon (;).
- ClickSend Report.
