Semantic Layers

Request Management is configured with semantic layers. Layers are typically structured around a specific product layer. Layers can also combine products or other client-specific data. Depending on how Request Management is being used, semantic layers can be single or double-layered.
Layer type
Description
Single Layer
Single semantic layers are ideal for data that is flat (i.e. has no parent/child or header/detail relationship). ONESOURCE Global Classification is a good example of this. For instance, a client could send a request to their broker to provide information (like the Country of Origin) for a specific part within Global Classification.
Double Layer
Double semantic layers are ideal for data that is structured with a header/detail or parent/child relationship. ONESOURCE Export Management is a good example of this. For instance, Request Management can be set up for clients to request both header and detail/party line information on a specific shipment.
