Automatic Chapter 99 tariff application coming soon

Our teams are developing a new feature that will help streamline your filings by automatically identifying and applying the appropriate chapter 99 tariffs. While this enhancement won’t be included in the initial rollout of the 26.1 release, we’re committed to delivering it to you between standard releases, as soon as it’s ready. Here’s a preview of what you can expect:
What’s coming
  • Smart tariff selection:
When generating your 7501 Entry, you’ll have the option to let our product analyze your inventory layers and fill in any missing chapter 99 numbers. Existing chapter 99 numbers for a tariff type will remain unchanged—our tool will only fill gaps, not overwrite your inventory layers.
  • Preview before application:
You’ll be able to review our suggested chapter 99 choices for a 7501 entry before they’re applied, giving you full control and confidence in your filings.
  • Your responsibility:
While our tool is designed to assist and save you time, it’s important to remember that you are ultimately responsible for ensuring the accuracy of your filings. Guidance can vary, and we’ll do our best to interpret requirements correctly, but final verification is up to you.
Why IMCR rules still matter
  • Custom scenarios:
If you have unique use cases or internal guidance that require different chapter 99 numbers than what we suggest, you can set IMCR rules for those specific situations. Our system will honor valid IMCR rules before applying automatic selections.
  • Rapid CBP changes:
If CBP updates reporting rules quickly, you may need to use IMCR rules temporarily while we update our functionality.
  • Partial value functionality:
For items where you want to use partial value functionality, IMCR rules will still be necessary in this first phase as value needs to be defined specifically for application.
What you can do now
  • Stay tuned:
Please continue to use IMCR for your tariff needs until this feature is available. We do not have an exact ETA and we’ll provide more detailed information and guidance as soon as possible. Watch for updates, notifications for upcoming webinars, and videos in our Help and Support so you’re ready to take advantage of this new functionality.
