BOL Validation

The “
BOL Validation
” screen is used for entering valid Bills of Lading known to be used for shipments where the user will need to file a Security Filing. This screen can be opened by choosing “BOL Validation” from the “Maintenance” menu.
The “Bills” tab allows the user to enter one or more Master and/or House Bill identifiers for use in validation. Users may enter the Master Bill Identifier, the House Bill Identifier, or both the Master and House Bill Identifiers for the Security Filing. Once these identifiers are added, all Bills of Ladings in the ONESOURCE ISF system are compared to the data table in two ways:
  1. During the “Add” process on the “Edit Security Filing: Bills” tab, the user-entered data is compared to the BOL Validation data. If the Bill of Lading being added to the Security Filing is not in the BOL Validation table, the user is prompted with an error message stating, “The Master Bill of Lading / House Bill of Lading combination is not valid,” and the Bill of Lading is not saved to the Security Filing.
  2. During Import, Bills of Lading provided on imported transactions are compared against the “BOL Validation” table. If the Bill of Lading data is not in the table, an import exception is noted. The Bill of Lading will not be added to the imported Security Filing.
This functionality is optional. However, once a list is started, no Bills of Lading entered on a Security Filing can be saved if they are not first entered on this list.
