Create datasets

Every return belongs to a dataset, which consists of entities. You use the Returns window to add a new dataset, and a wizard steps you through the process.
  1. Select
    Returns
    .
  2. On the Returns window, select
    Add
    on the toolbar.
  3. On tab
    1 Dataset Properties
    , use the
    Name
    field to specify a unique name for the dataset, and complete the required information. Use the
    Purpose
    dropdown to indicate the type of return. Options are Return, Corrective Return, or Other.
  4. Select the
    Next
    button to continue.
  5. On tab
    2 Entities
    , select the entities from the list to include in the dataset. To display the entity ID in curly brackets after the entity name, select the
    Show entity short name
    check box.

    The list contains entities you created in
    Configuration
    >
    Entity Manager
    . Entities that consolidate must be contained in the same dataset in order to share information. For OSS VAT returns,the entities you select must use the OSS jurisdiction.
  6. Select
    Next
    to continue.
  1. On the
    3 Templates
    tab, select a template for each entity in the dataset. Consider the following:
    • To change the default template assigned to each entity, check the checkbox next to the template name, then select a template from the dropdown list.
    • To create a return from a previous template version, select
      Show all template versions
      then select a template from the dropdown list.
    • To assign a template to multiple entities simultaneously, select the check boxes next to the entity names then select a template from the drop-down list in the dialog box header.
    • A previous template version cannot be assigned to multiple entities in this way.
    • The return name is automatically generated. To rename it, select the return name to highlight then rename.
  2. To complete the return, select
    Finish
    . If you want to add optional sheets, select
    Next
    .
  3. If you are adding optional sheets, on the Sheets window, select optional sheets as required, to add to each template. Select a template from the first drop-down menu then select the check box next to each additional sheet to be added.
  4. Select
    >
    to add the selected sheets to the template. To remove a sheet from a template, clear the check box next to the sheet.
  5. Select Finish to create the dataset and return to the Returns screen.
