If your firm has multiple offices, you can restrict staff access based on their office in various areas of Practice CS. The office assigned to the staff, client, and engagement determines access.
Office
is not a required field in Practice CS. Staff members have access to everything in the application until you assign them to an office. Staff members who have access to clients and engagements can access any unassigned clients or engagements and their data.
To turn on office-related security, begin by:
Assigning each staff member to an office on the Staff screen
Assigning each client to an office on the Clients screen
When adding or modifying a security group, turning on permissions for certain items may trigger other items to be turned on automatically. For more information on related security permissions, refer to More about security privileges.
The default office for a new client is the office of the staff member who enters the client in Practice CS, but you can select a different office.
If your firm doesn’t have multiple offices or doesn’t want to restrict access by office, you don't need to mark any office-related security checkboxes. Adding office-related security to Practice CS doesn't affect any security groups your firm previously set up. You can edit existing security groups to restrict access by office.
