Word limitations in SPbinder
Word feature has the following limitations in SPbinder:
- The binder freezes while adding a Word document into the SPbinder
- Doesn’t support the.DOCfile type. Use.DOCXinstead.Print error appears when printing without leadsheet binder
- Can't upload a blank word document
The binder freezes while adding a Word document into the SPbinder
The binder freezes when a user adds a Word document to the binder using the drag and drop feature.
You may see the following error window appear:

SPbinder is not responding
The issue may be caused by certain images or objects that are not supported (for example, Shapes, checkboxes) in the Word document. These objects are located under the
Insert
tab in the Word document.Solution
Option 1.
Convert the Word document file to a PDF and then upload it into the binder.Option 2.
Contact SurePrep Support if you need assistance clearing unsupported objects from the word document. Invalid file type error while adding/uploading Word document
An invalid file type error appears when attempting to add a Word document to the binder. You may have uploaded a Word document that is not supported.
Example: Uploading a file with the
.doc
extension instead of .docx

Solution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
- Convert the word document file from .doc to .docx (that is, Save as a new file).
- Add the new Word.docxfile extension to SPbinder.
Error when printing without leadsheet binder
You will see an error when printing without leadsheet binder with the
Print on my PC
option selected.note
Object references are not set to an instance of an object.
Solution
Option 1.
When selecting a print option for a binder without leadsheets, select the Print on Sureprep server
option.Option 2.
Convert the word file to a PDF format, add it to the binder, then print.Error while adding a blank word document in the binder through drag and drop
An error occurs when the Word document is blank and doesn’t have any data.
Solution
Convert a blank Word document into a PDF, then you can drag and drop a blank PDF without any issues.
