Communicate with clients in TaxCaddy

Prepare a fillable PDF

Before sending a fillable PDF form to your clients, you should ensure that it's been created correctly.
note
You can download and send generic fillable PDF documents provided by SurePrep. These fillable PDFs can be uploaded with any 1040 service (with/without TaxCaddy).

Ensure your fillable PDF is correct

  1. Open your document in
    Adobe Acrobat Pro DC
    .
  2. Select
    Tools
    .
    Adobe Acrobat
  3. Under
    Forms & Signatures
    , select
    Prepare Form
    . You may need to scroll down to see this.

  4. You can use the form tools located on top to add form fields.

  5. Each field displays a name.

  6. You can also see a list of fields and their names under
    FIELDS
    .

  7. You can press
    F2
     on your keyboard to edit the name.
    note
    Due to an open issue with displaying filled data, avoid using field names which contain the word “Yes”.

    You can also right-click the field, then select
    Rename
    .

  8. Once you have added the fillable fields. Go to
    File
    , then
    Save
    .
