    Administrative setup
    , then continue to
    Product-specific setup
    .
  • No:
    Skip
    Administrative setup
    and go directly to
    Product-specific setup
    .

Administrative setup

Complete these steps before you set up any specific product. Your firm's Licensee or Delegate needs to complete them.
  1. Create your Thomson Reuters ID to access the CS Professional Suite website.
  2. Update your license PIN from the default ZIP Code to a more secure number.

Product-specific setup

Select the product you purchased to learn about the steps required to get started.
note
  • If you chose Virtual Office or Software as a Service (SaaS) hosting, complete the hosting setup first. Then complete the product-specific setup.
  • If you purchased multiple products and host them in your own environment, begin with Practice CS.
  • If you didn't purchase Practice CS (or you already configured it), begin with the product you're ready to set up.
Internal use only
NetClient CS doesn’t have a transitional tutorial. Firms that purchase only NetFirm CS have the option to choose a fee OnDemand training for either NetStaff CS or NetClient CS. The NetClient-only firms should refer to the OnDemand, the Help and Support center, paid training, and Technical Support for additional options.
  • Pre-conversion tutorial: Covers conversion options, tips on preparing for the conversion, a step by step walk-through of the conversion process, and information on how to submit data for conversion.
  • Post-conversion Tutorial: Covers how to download and restore their Practice CS database, ways to verify data, and tips for getting started with Practice.
Review The Customer Onboarding Team for how to determine the Customer Success Rep for the firm and how to contact that team on behalf of the firm.

Manage your license PIN

Update your license PIN to meet security requirements and download licenses for your programs.
To download and install licenses for your programs, you must enter your firm ID and license PIN (Personal Identification Number). Your default license PIN is your firm's ZIP Code, but you can't download licenses using this default PIN.
As the Licensee or Firm Delegate, update your PIN to meet the following secure PIN criteria:
  • Must contain 5 numerical characters
  • Must differ from your firm's ZIP Code
  • Can't use all the same number (such as 55555)
  • Can't use sequential numbers (such as 12345 or 54321)
  • Can't reuse a previous PIN

Change or review your license PIN

As the Licensee or Firm Delegate, follow these steps to review or change your current license PIN.
note
The Licensee or Firm Delegate serves as the account administrator with legal rights to client data. This role manages the client relationship with Thomson Reuters, including firm demographic changes, security requirements, and data responsibility.
  1. Sign in using your Thomson Reuters ID.
  2. In the
    Overview: Items available to change
    section, select
    Manage Firm
    to open the
    Firm details
    page.
  3. Select
    Edit
    for the
    License PIN
    field.
  4. Select
    View PIN requirements
for guidance on choosing a valid PIN, then select
    Close
    .
  5. Enter a
    PIN
    , then select
    Save
    .

Web-based program exceptions

  • Virtual Office CS:
You only need a license PIN for programs you install locally.
  • Software as a Service (SaaS):
Your service agreement prohibits local program installation, so you don't need a license PIN.

When to share your license PIN

Share your license PIN only with firm staff members or IT professionals who need to download licenses via CS Connect. They need your firm ID and license PIN to complete these tasks:
  • Purchase an additional license.
  • Change your network configuration.
  • Renew your programs.
  • Change the licensee's name.
  • Change your firm's name or address.

Security best practices

If you suspect an unauthorized individual has accessed your programs, update your license PIN immediately. As the Licensee or Firm Delegate, regularly review active accounts with access to your programs and turn off any accounts that should not have access.
If you have additional concerns about your programs, contact Thomson Reuters via phone, chat, or email.
Internal use only
Once a new PIN is saved on the website, an update is sent to EMS immediately and the new PIN replaces the old. This can be verified by returning to the
My Account
page.
Any User Services representative can verify the current PIN in EMS. Open the firm ID in EMS and select
Applications
,
License
, then
License/Access PIN
. The PIN can't be shared with any members of the firm.
