Use Leadsheets in Tax Automation

Leadsheets give you a comprehensive summary of your SPbinder amounts in 1 location.
Use these structured documents in your tax workflows to organize and summarize financial data for a client's binder. Leadsheets provide a clear, itemized view of key tax information, making it easier for you to review, validate, and process client data efficiently. When you're working on complex tax engagements, Leadsheets help you ensure accuracy and consistency across multiple data sources and forms.

Enable Leadsheets in Tax Automation

When you're initially uploading documents in the
Tax Automation Upload
screen, you can create Leadsheets using the
Use Leadsheets
toggle.

You'll need to turn this on at the beginning of the upload process, and this choice impacts how you manage and review subsequent data in UltraTax CS.

Limitations

The integration between SurePrep Leadsheets and UltraTax automates your data transfer. This reduces manual entry and helps you avoid potential errors. However, this integration has a known limitation when it comes to data deletion and reclassification, particularly with K1 forms and similar documents that have units assigned to them.
Data doesn't match after subsequent exports
If you delete something in SPbinder
after
you've already imported it into UltraTax CS, that information doesn't go away automatically in UltraTax CS when you import again. You'll need to delete data from both sources.
  • To delete information that wasn't proforma'd from the prior year, delete the data from both the binder and UltraTax CS.
  • To delete proforma'd data:
    • Go to the
      Forms
      tab and select
      Add
      add reference.
    • Place a reference on a page.
    • Select
      Delete
      delete reference to remove the reference from the row (field group).
    • Export the data.
    • Delete the row from the
      Forms
      tab, then delete the same data from UltraTax CS.
One way data flow
Tax software data doesn't sync back to SPbinder. If you want to use Leadsheets for comparison, you'll need to manually enter the data in the Leadsheets.

Best practices

  • Always review UltraTax CS data after re-importing from Leadsheets.
  • Manually delete any units in UltraTax CS that were removed or reclassified in Leadsheets.
  • Use Help and Support articles and updated training materials for step-by-step guidance.
  • Stay informed about future workflow changes and enhancements.
