Sales Internship Supervisor, Sales, Tax & Accounting

One thing that excites me about working at Thomson Reuters is the innovation within our roles and industry that we get to experience daily. I appreciate working for a company that stands by its values. Thomson Reuters lets me play an active role in influencing our business by using creativity to try new things and continuously improve the Internship Program. As a large enterprise, change often does not happen overnight. However, when our business units identify a need, they start making impactful changes to move in the new direction. This often result in new teams, projects, or products that let us stay proactive and cement our position as a leader in our industry.

I started with Thomson Reuters in 2011 as a Sales Intern. Luckily enough, I attended school locally and was able to continue my internship until I graduated from Eastern Michigan University! Over the next three years I held two different Sales roles. Through the years I’ve been surrounded by wonderful colleagues and mentors who have helped prepare me for the role I am in currently, which is to supervise our Sales Internship Program (the same program I was once an Intern in!) In this role I help recruit, on-board, coach, and support our Sales Intern team. My professional passion is to help early career professionals find and establish their confidence in the world of Professional Selling, and I’m thankful to be in a role that allows me to do just that!

This past February, in collaboration with a colleague/mentor, former interns, and the American Association of Inside Sales Professionals, we created our first inaugural Thomson Reuters Inside Sales Competition! Students from two of our key recruiting partners (and rival schools), Central Michigan University and Western Michigan University, registered to compete in the event. Some of the key takeaways for the students were the ability to practice sales skills, network with professionals, and hopefully win bragging rights, prizes, and a trophy! Some of their favorite parts of the event were receiving one-on-one feedback from Sales Representatives and Sales Managers, bonding with other students, and getting to job shadow their Sales Representative Mentors. In addition, our internal team enjoyed the event as they were able to give back to the community and help support up-and-coming Professional Sales students! This also allowed us an opportunity to invite future candidates to experience our award-winning culture and career launching role. At the end of the day, the winner of the competition was from Central Michigan University, and the runner-up was from Western Michigan University. Can't wait to see who brings home the trophy this year!
