Return Register Import

Return Register Import allows you to streamline the process of selecting tax returns for filing by importing data from one template file. To access Return Register Import, open Return Register for a selected Entity and select

Return Register Export Template

The Return Register Export Template is an export file of the tax returns in Sales and Use Tax Compliance that have not as yet been selected for filing by the selected entity.
When selecting Export Template, a comma separated values (.csv) file is downloaded. Return register selections can be added in the .csv file and the file then used to import those selections into the selected entity's return register.
The Return Register Template contains the following seven fields for each tax return:
  • Entity - The alpha, numeric, or alpha-numeric code you assigned when you created the entity.
  • Return Code - An internal code assigned by Sales and Use Tax Compliance that is unique for each tax return.
  • Frequency - The most common filing frequency for the return serves as the default filing frequency. If a .csv file is created to use as an import file, filing frequency can be changed to match your filing frequency if it differs from the default filing frequency. The filing frequency intervals are as follows:
    • Monthly - 12
    • Quarterly - 4
    • Semi-Annual - 2
    • Annual - 1
  • Register - This field is blank. If a .csv file is created to use as an import file, an X would be entered in this field to select the return.
  • IsOccasional - This field is blank. If a .csv file is created to use as an import file, an X would be entered in this field to assign
    Occasional Filing
    for the return.
  • Region - A region code assigned by Compliance comprised of the abbreviation for Country and State.
  • Tax Return - Title for the tax return.

Import Return Register selections

After you make and save your tax return selections in the return register export template .csv file, the next step in Return Register Import is to import the Return Register selections into the return register of the selected entity. Since the import file is a set format you won't need to create an import file template. Simply browse or drag the completed export template .csv file to the Import page and import your selections into the return register for the selected entity.
