Enable Practitioner PIN for 1040 clients
You can use the Practitioner personal identification number (PIN) method for all clients instead of using the Self-Select PIN method for each individual client. The Practitioner PIN method lets the Electronic Return Originator (ERO) file tax returns electronically without submitting the client's date of birth, prior-year AGI, or prior-year PIN to the IRS.
Follow these steps to designate that you want to use a Practitioner PIN for all 1040 clients.
- SelectSetup, thenOffice Configuration.
- Select theE-Filingtab.
- SelectERO.
- Select thePractitioner PIN Program filercheckbox.note
- Form 2350 extensions don't qualify for the Practitioner PIN. You'll need to enter data for the Self-Select PIN.
- Mark theSelf-Select PINfield in the PIN screen to use the Self-Select PIN on a per-client basis.
