Set up integration with SafeSend

note
SafeSend is retiring its legacy login method for return delivery. Effective July 30, 2026, UltraTax CS 2025 requires a one-time System Configuration setup to connect to SafeSend. Refer to UltraTax Year Specific Compatibility for complete setup instructions and version-specific details.
  • In UltraTax CS:
  • Select
    Setup
    , then
    System Configuration
    .
  • On the
    SurePrep & SafeSend Integrations
     tab, select
    Connect with Safesend
    .
    note
    • If a valid SafeSend company, you will see a Status of Connected and the Company name will be displayed. Once connected, this enables integration at the firm-level and delivering returns to SafeSend will still require additional user authentication.
    • If there is not a valid SafeSend company found, a Connection Unsuccessful dialog will appear with instructions on how to proceed.
  • The following options are also available:
    • When printing the return, automatically deliver client copy to SafeSend
      : Selecting this option causes the return to automatically deliver to SafeSend when you choose
      Assemble
       or
      Print
      . If left unselected, the delivery will be handled through CS Connect instead.
    • Queue electronic files for transmission when sending returns to SafeSend for e-signature (requires creation of e-files when printing and applies to ALL clients)
      : the return will be eligible to be automatically e-filed after the return has been eSigned in SafeSend.
  • Select
    OK
    .
After you've enabled integration, you can send returns to SafeSend and create organizers specifically configured for upload to SafeSend.
If SafeSend is the primary method for delivering a client's tax returns, we recommend you:
  1. Go to
    Setup
    , then
    Client Communications
  2. Change either your
    Return Delivery method
     or
    Organizer Delivery method
     to
    SafeSend
    .
This will let you send multiple returns/organizers at a time.
To update several clients' delivery method to SafeSend,
  1. Select
    Utilities
    , then
    Reassign Clients
    .
  2. Apply filters and select several clients to update.
  3. In the
    Reassign to
     section, select
    Return delivery or Organizer delivery
     and
    SafeSend
    .
In addition, if you are licensed for UltraTax CS and SafeSend Gather AI, you can create single client gather engagements with tasks to send fillable organizers, ask custom questions, request documents and manage 7216 consent.
Disconnect SafeSend Integration:
  1. Select
    Disconnect SafeSend.
  2. A confirmation screen will appear, asking you to verify the disconnection.
  3. Select
    Disconnect
     to proceed.
  4. A successful disconnection screen will appear. Select
    OK
    .
After you disconnect
  • UltraTax CS will no longer be integrated with SafeSend for the selected company.
  • The option to print client copy of the return to SafeSend is removed.
  • Auto e-filing will no longer be an option for returns not delivered to SafeSend yet.
You can re-connect the SafeSend integration at any time by using the
Connect with SafeSend
 button again.
