FTA: Content Maintenance Procedures

This user guide is designed to help you understand the policies, processes and procedures we use to maintain our FTA Content. The data we manage is two-fold; on the one hand, we load rules of origin that are visible via the Content Global Tariffs screens and on the other, we manage the configurations that drive all the modules of the FTA Product. Both will be discussed here.

It is important to note that while we do maintain/manage a substantial amount of FTA related information, we do not try to accommodate every FTA that has ever been signed. We do this so that we can focus our resources on the content that will be most useful and valuable to you. That said, each year we analyze the countries and content tools our clients use to determine a list of the top-most searched countries and rule categories. (You can reach out to the FTA Content Team directly to request a copy of the then-current country/category list.)

That also goes for some of the functionality that we support in the FTA Product. For example, we currently only conditionally cover Textile chapters of any agreement. We understand that Textile rules typically utilize weight and volumes over values and have very other complex requirements that we do not currently have the framework to handle. Until we have the opportunity to make that development investment, we can still run the rules based on TS and attributes to represent any special conditions of the rules. In these cases, we will not have the ability to run the normal De Minimis as we know that the De Minimis value that applies to Textile chapters is distinctly different than that of the other chapters. That will also be included in the future Textile design modifications.
