Set up Pennsylvania taxing authority and political subdivision codes

Taxing authority city codes

You can create up to 900 user-defined cities for the purposes of completing the Local Earned Income Tax return. Each city is assigned a numeric code within the range of 101 to 999, as well as the alphabetic code PGH (Pittsburgh) that determines the taxing municipality for the Local EIT return. Enter a taxing authority city code on the PAEIT screen to create a Local EIT return.
Predetermined local earned income tax return defaults related with the 6-digit political subdivision (PSD) codes are included in the setup. Follow these steps to set up a user-defined city:
  1. Select
    Setup
    ,
    1040 Individual
    , the
    Pennsylvania

    Local cities
    .
  2. Select

  3. Enter a
    City code

  4. Select a PSD code for the proper taxing municipality from the dropdown.
The default information for the taxing municipality will populate the rest of the setup screen. You can replace the default PSD code information.
