Receipt ID for electronic corrected 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC forms

You'll need to contact our Accounting CS support experts to get the Receipt ID so you can file a corrected 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC.
Definitions:
  • Receipt ID
is the confirmation that the form was sent to the IRS.
This is called the SubID on CS Connect.
  • Submission ID
is the incremental number for each client (issuer) in the file. This will always be 1 from our program since we only send a single client per file. If you filed the prior form outside of Accounting CS, this could be a different number.
  • Record ID
is the incremental number for each recipient in the file. You can find this number from the last accepted file for the recipient you're trying to correct.
Do the following to help our support experts provide you with the Receipt ID you need to file an electronic corrected 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC form:
  1. Our support experts will need to know the following information:
    • The form type you need to correct (1099-NEC, 1099-MISC, or both)
    • What period end date you're correcting. For example, 12/31/2023.
    • The client ID in Accounting CS.
  2. Select
    Actions
    ,
    Process Electronic Forms
    , then
    Manage Electronic Forms
to find the file number of the form that needs to be corrected.
Manage Electronic Forms window with the File Number column highlighted.
    note
The file number is important so you can know which ReceiptID/SubID is correct. The customer may have filed the client multiple times (adding additional vendors/independent contractors), but the files will start with 1 for each client and increase by 1. In CS Connect, the file number shows after the period date.
For corrected files, the file number will start with 101 and go to 102 for the next one. For example, if it were an already corrected file, the period date would look like 2023/1231101 or 2023/1231102.
CS Connect entry with the SubID highlighted.
    note
If you're unsure which file the vendor or independent contractor is in, you'll need to preview each file for that client and time period to find them.
  3. Select
    Preview Selected
for the file to be corrected.
  4. In the preview, go to the Header information to get the
    Submission ID
then go to the Recipient Detail section to get the
    Record ID
    .
    note
If you have multiple vendors and/or independent contractors in the file, you'll need to select the specific vendor/independent contractor you need to correct and get the Record ID for that recipient.
You can use the find icon (binoculars) or press ctrl + F on your keyboard to find a vendor or independent contractor by name.
  5. Open CS Connect then go to the ELF quick navigation section in the left pane. Enter the
    Firm ID
    and the
    Client ID filter
    , then select
    Go
    .
  6. Look for the file type/period they're correcting and see if it shows
    Accepted
    .
    • If it shows
      Rejected
, they'll be able to re-send the file without doing a corrected form. If the latest status isn't an acknowledgement, you won't be able to give them the Receipt ID yet.
    • If it shows
      Accepted
, look for the newest SubID (remember SubID = Receipt ID).
    note
If you don't have permission to view the information in CS Connect, visit an Accounting CS Consultant and they can provide it for you.
  7. Email the customer the Receipt ID using the following template:
Here is the requested information: Client ID: 1099-type: File number: Receipt ID:
    note
    • You might need to ask the customer the best address to use to get them this information.
    • Only include the information in the preceding template. Don't include the EIN/TIN in the email.
  8. After a support expert has provided you with the Receipt ID, select
    Actions
    then
    Edit Payroll Tax Forms
. Choose the form type you need then select
    Refresh
    .
  9. Go to the
    Recipient Selection
    tab and select the recipients.
  10. Go to the
    Original - Recipient Data
    tab and select
    Original E-file Information
    .
  11. Fill in the following information:
    • The Recipient ID
    • The Submission ID
      note
This will always be 1 if you filed the original form through Accounting CS. If you filed with another program, it could be different.
    • The Record ID
  12. Select
    Save
    .
  13. Follow the standard steps to process the corrected form.
