Introducing Our First CoCounsel Guided Legal Workflows

Earlier this year, we made a promise: AI that doesn’t just assist but acts with the precision and accountability legal professionals demand. That promise is becoming practice. Starting July, we’re launching our first production-grade workflows on CoCounsel that handle the messy, multi-step work most AI tools can’t touch, and we’re making them easy to use.

Coming soon for US customers

We’re starting where friction meets frequency—where legal professionals lose time and accuracy every day. Our CoCounsel agentic AI workflows handle complexity from end to end:

  • Create a Lease Agreement Abstract: Summarize lease agreements into structured abstracts capturing key terms, obligations, and dates, with an expanding collection of agreement types over time.
  • Benchmark Document Against Standard: Compare documents against your own exemplars or Practical Law to identify key deviations and missing provisions and receive suggested language to enhance the draft.
  • Generate Form 8-K language: Generate Form 8-K disclosure language based on key event details and relevant documents.
  • Analyze merger control filing requirements: Streamline regulatory compliance in M&A transactions. Analyze deal information against Practical Law’s global content to identify potential risks and requirements, generate automated filing checklists, and provide actionable insights.
  • Find a Practical Law Document: Leverage Practical Law standard documents right in CoCounsel to kick off your workflows.

Why it matters

There’s a lot of noise around agentic AI. This is a sign of where things are going.

We’re not just delivering guided workflows—we’re reimagining guided legal AI across the spectrum of our customers’ needs.

For complex, multi-step work: Our CoCounsel agentic workflows handle end-to-end processes automatically, with AI that plans, reasons, and executes sequential tasks, while keeping the human in the loop.

For flexible, day-to-day tasks: CoCounsel’s new Library for prompts, skills and workflows provides expert-crafted starting points that remove guesswork from common legal work—research, analysis, and drafting. These aren’t generic AI prompts—they’re specialist-crafted instructions for specific legal tasks, tested and refined by our team of legal GenAI experts. Our Library already includes 50 prompts, with much more to come.

This dual approach means whether you need full automation or guided assistance, you’re working with AI that’s been refined by legal experts and grounded in trusted content.

Both capabilities are built on the same foundation:

    • Multi-step intelligence – AI that thinks sequentially and strategically
    • Content-aware – powered by Westlaw, Practical Law, and your internal data
    • Enterprise-ready – auditable, testable, and built with permissioning at the core
    • Workflow-native – embedded where legal work happens inside Microsoft 365 including Word, Teams and Outlook.

This isn’t an LLM in a box. This is the real thing: agentic AI and expert guidance refined by legal professionals and delivered through systems lawyers already trust.

What’s next

More workflows are already on the runway—covering litigation, regulatory analysis, and transactions. They’ll work across CoCounsel and evolve with our multi-model AI infrastructure.

Here’s a sneak peek on what’s coming next:

We’re not waiting for the future of AI in law. We’re shipping it. And we’re just getting started.
