Thomson Reuters Named as Finalist for the 2014 American Business Awards in Two Categories

NEW YORK – The Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters today announced it has been recognized as a finalist for the 2014 American Business Awards, also known as the Stevie Awards, in two categories: Checkpoint Pocket Assistant has been nominated in the category of New Product or Service of the Year – Software – Financial Management Solution, and Tobias Lee, Chief Marketing Officer, Tax & Accounting, has been nominated as Marketing Executive of the Year.

Checkpoint Pocket Assistant launched in July 2013. It is a free app that allows users of Thomson Reuters Checkpoint, the industry-leading online research solution, to access in-depth tax and accounting information directly on their mobile devices. It has also been selected as a finalist in the Best Consumer Mobile Application category as part of the 2014 SIIA CODiE Awards for Software Excellence as well as the 2014 CPA Practice Advisor Innovation Awards.

Thomson Reuters created the role of Chief Marketing Officer, Tax & Accounting, for Tobias Lee in 2012. Since then, he has developed a data driven approach to marketing that is significantly adding value to the sales funnel. Lee instituted a customer experience function and focus into the company to help streamline the brand across multiple properties - most notably online through a consolidated website. A recent finalist as 2014 CMO of the Year for the DFW American Marketing Association and 2013 winner of the Leader of Excellence award by the National Association of Asian American Professionals, Lee manages a team of 100 people around the world.

“In a competitive landscape, we seek to offer our customers the most innovative and comprehensive tax research solutions,” Lee said. “We are honored by this recognition from the American Business Awards, because it acknowledges the strength of the Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting business as a market leader.”

The Stevie Awards were created to generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and business people worldwide. Their mission is to raise the profile of exemplary organizations and individuals among news media, the business community and the general public. The American Business Awards are judged each year by more than 200 executives nationwide. Sponsors include several of the nation’s top business publishers and marketers. The Marketing Awards will be distributed during an awards ceremony in Chicago on June 13, while the New Product Awards will be handed out at a ceremony in San Francisco on September 12.
