Thomson Reuters launches global Developer Portal, spurring innovation by making its technology and data broadly available

TORONTO, April 10, 2024 – Thomson Reuters (TSX/NYSE: TRI), a global content and technology company, today announced the unveiling of their global Developer Portal. The platform is designed to seamlessly integrate Thomson Reuters industry-leading technology, data, content, and insights directly into the workflows of tax, legal, risk and fraud professionals, offering them unprecedented access to over 100 APIs.

The Thomson Reuters Developer Portal marks a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to fostering innovation within the markets it serves. By providing developers with comprehensive data and insights through APIs, Thomson Reuters will serve as a catalyst for innovation with their customers and partners.

"Our new Developer Portal represents a fundamental shift in how we empower our customers and partners," said Kirat Sekhon, Head of Engineering (Interim), Thomson Reuters. "By opening our ecosystem to developers, we are fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation that will drive meaningful change in the professional industry."

Developers using the Thomson Reuters Developer Portal will have access to a wide range of resources, including content from Checkpoint and Westlaw, as well as technology powering ONESOURCE and Thomson Reuters AI capabilities. Through APIs such as Checkpoint Search and Westlaw US Litigation Analytics, professionals can leverage market-leading analytics and rich content to enhance their decision-making processes.

The Thomson Reuters Developer Portal provides a user-friendly interface for customers and partners to discover, learn, and access Thomson Reuters APIs, which currently handle over 1.5 billion calls monthly. This unprecedented access enables professionals to seamlessly integrate Thomson Reuters resources into their own workflows, driving productivity and efficiency gains.

“It’s not just about APIs, it’s about time savings. But it’s also about savings in mental health,” said Peter Walker, Process Improvement Project Manager, Berkowitz Pollack Brant. “At the end of the day, the last thing that you want is to have skilled workers doing mundane work, such as repetitive, consistent data entry. Those skilled talented workers could be providing value elsewhere.”

From attorneys gathering insights for litigation to tax professionals streamlining their tax preparation processes, Thomson Reuters APIs offer a myriad of opportunities for value creation. The Developer Portal serves as a centralized hub for managing APIs, accessing technical documentation, and exploring product integration use cases.

Furthermore, the launch of the Thomson Reuters Developer Community provides developers with a platform to collaborate, share insights, and explore the endless possibilities of Thomson Reuters APIs. As Thomson Reuters products become more AI-centric, APIs will play a crucial role in delivering advanced 'AI Skills' directly into customer workflows, further enhancing the value proposition for professionals.
