19 Duncan: our new AI-driven innovation hub in Toronto

We are excited to announce that we have just moved into our new cutting-edge AI-driven innovation hub in downtown Toronto. This purpose-built space will serve as a major hub for product innovation and collaboration, bringing together members of our news bureau, content and editorial teams, sales teams, and other corporate functions teams all under one roof. Located at 19 Duncan Street, our new centre maintains the historic Southam Press Building’s heritage façade while incorporating innovative and sustainable design features. We’ve made sure to prioritize the human experience in our space, with a careful focus on how people, their environment, and technology intersect.

Our new centre is guided by the three principles of our hybrid work strategy – trust, connection, and flexibility – and offers dedicated spaces for collaboration like project team rooms, quiet rooms, wellness rooms, and a three-season outdoor meeting space. Plus, we’ve added new food and beverage offerings and even a fitness centre in the adjoining residential tower.

We’re thrilled to have prioritized the human experience in our new centre, as it symbolizes our unique culture and fosters community and growth amongst our teammates. Our goal is to embody the future of work – and the future of professionals.

Our new centre is home to hundreds of technologists, product designers, product managers, and engineers who will be led by our Chief Product Officer, David Wong, and Global Head of Engineering, Shawn Malhotra. With over 30 years of experience innovating with artificial intelligence (AI) and building AI-powered products like Westlaw Precision and Document Intelligence, we’re excited to harness the power of AI in our new product innovation hub. Our product, technology, and design teams will work alongside our customers to provide them with the trusted content and technology they need to make the right decisions.

As one of the largest global technology companies headquartered in Canada, we’re proud to be able to work alongside our global leadership team and our customers at our new Toronto centre. We’re excited for our product, technology, and design teams to have high visibility into our global business and to have great career path choices as they build and deliver the products that power the world’s most informed professionals.

We celebrated the launch of our new centre with employee celebrations took part over three days the first week of May. Check out the video below from day three of the opening event.

We’re thrilled to take this next step in our journey and can’t wait to see how customer and colleagues connect and collaborate at 19 Duncan.Â
