CoCounsel Skills, Prompts, and Workflows

CoCounsel has 3 types of specialized legal features that you can access through the CoCounsel Chat
(by entering a user prompt) or through the CoCounsel Library
(by selecting a feature from the interactive menu):

CoCounsel skills
perform discrete legal tasks. Each skill is carefully engineered to its task and requires a set of user instructions (a user prompt), and in many cases one or more user documents, to output a particular type of work product. Some examples of CoCounsel work product include: summaries or analysis of reviewed documents, contractual provisions, or compilations of research materials.

CoCounsel prompts
will run a single CoCounsel skill and output a specific work product without the need for a user prompt.

CoCounsel workflows
combine multiple skills to accomplish more complex or layered tasks and generate more sophisticated legal work product, such as drafting demand letters, discovery, contracts, or corporate policies. Certain workflows require additional user subscriptions, for example, to Westlaw Advantage or to Practical Law.

CoCounsel skills, prompts, and workflows span practice areas and fit into 4 (4) distinct categories of legal work.

Category: Draft

Draft a wide variety of documents and content.

This skill lets you upload model documents to generate content that is consistent with those documents in terms of content, tone, or style, helping you tailor outputs to your needs and maintain continuity in your communication and documentation.
Skill	Prepare for a Deposition	Develop well-structured and insightful question outlines, tailored to the specifics of the case. This skill will analyze the documents you upload, such as expert reports, pleadings, and any other details you provide, and base its questions on that information. You can further use the skill to prepare for other examinations or interviews beyond depositions, for example, internal investigations, hearings, or trials.

Workflow	Create a Signature Authorization Policy	Create signature authorization policies based on Practical Law templates and your company requirements.

Workflow	Customize a Practical Law Agreement	Customize Practical Law agreements based on your provided term sheet, specific requirements, and Practical Law expertise.

Skill	AI-Assisted Research or Deep Research (Westlaw)	Ask a legal question and get a concise response, grounded in primary legal authorities from Westlaw, for example, statutes, regulations, and case law. Results contain linked citations to authorities.
Skill	Search & Summarize Practical Law	Ask any legal question and get a concise response, grounded in expert secondary sources from the Practical Law collection. Results contain linked citations to sources.
Skill	AI Jurisdictional Surveys	Simplify the process of creating comprehensive and up-to-date surveys using generative AI. Start with a search query and, in minutes, compare statutes and regulations from every jurisdiction in which you need to research.
Skill	Claims Explorer	Find potential claims for your fact pattern and highlight specific statutory, common law, and constitutional causes of action for further research.
Skill	Find a Practical Law Document	Find trusted Practical Law resources, including templates, overviews, and checklists, to accelerate your legal work.
Skill	Identifying Mischaracterizations	Find potential mischaracterizations of case quotes and paraphrases in briefs or other filings.

Skill	Compare Documents	Compare multiple documents and generate detailed, side-by-side comparisons in a fraction of the time that it would take you to do so manually. This skill helps you swiftly identify and understand relevant differences and similarities between and among contracts, legislation, expert reports, and more. It also highlights critical variations and connections, giving you precise and in-depth analysis and delving into the subtleties of the text.
Skill	Contract Policy Compliance	Upload contracts and enter relevant policies, and CoCounsel will suggest redline edits to bring all non-compliant clauses into compliance.
Skill	Review Documents	Review documents exponentially faster than a human can. This skill will conduct in-depth reviews of a wide range of document types, for example, deposition transcripts, medical records, contracts, and discovery materials. It goes beyond simple document review questions (for example, basic question-and-answer) by creating in-depth analyses of the underlying text. This lets you reveal nuanced insights and connections that you might otherwise miss.
Skill	Search a Database	Find relevant information within a large database of your files or upload a collection of your own documents to create a database. CoCounsel will efficiently retrieve information from the database based on your request, in a needle-in-a-haystack-type search.
Workflow	Draft SOAP Report from Medical Records	Create a summary report of uploaded medical records that reflect the Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan (SOAP) method for documenting patient interactions.

Condense critical information in any kind of document.

This skill will compile and present events from relevant documents, for example, medical records, transcripts, and notes, in a coherent timeline. With it, you can create broad timelines of events, or you can focus your user prompts to extract more specific chronological information and create tailored or detailed timelines.
