Get to know the Women at Thomson Reuters business resource group

Welcome to our forum that aims to foster the inclusion and advancement of our talent as well as to celebrate diversity across the community and culture of the organization.

Overview of Women at Thomson Reuters

Women at Thomson Reuters is an employee-led business resource group (BRG) that is committed to creating awareness and understanding of the diverse backgrounds and experiences represented at Thomson Reuters and in our communities.

Our mission is to drive positive change, inspiring others to promote women as equal partners in the success, achievement, and profitability of the business. We seek to champion women by supporting professional growth and development, expanding networks internally and throughout our communities, increasing allyship, and driving awareness of the unconscious biases that fuel gender inequality.

With an organization as vast as Thomson Reuters, connecting with employees across different locations and functions can enable a better understanding of how the company works and visibility of the talent that powers business results and supports our customers.

We offer global programs and local events that are open to everyone at Thomson Reuters.

    • Global Allyship Community: Our Global Allyship Community explores the role of an ally, aims to increase allyship across the organization, drives awareness of unconscious biases that fuel gender inequality, and supports professional growth and development of our people.  We offer a variety of opportunities throughout the year to help people learn about microaggressions and biases through interactive workshops and scenario discussions.
    • #IamRemarkable Workshops: #IAR is a Google initiative empowering women and underrepresented groups to speak openly about their accomplishments in the workplace and beyond, thereby breaking modesty norms and glass ceilings.  Thomson Reuters offers a slate of #IAR workshops throughout the year delivered by trained internal employees who are looking to make a difference and promote confidence building with their colleagues.
    • Earnings Call Recaps: Each quarter, Women at Thomson Reuters hosts an in-depth conversation with senior leaders to break down our business strategy and financial results plus hear what investors had to say about our earnings release. This provides a unique development opportunity for our people to build their business and financial acumen and understand how their work supports the company and our customers.
    • Catalyst Partnership: Thomson Reuters is honored to partner with Catalyst, a global non-profit focused on building workplaces that work for women.  Through this partnership, our BRGs can access research, data, and tools to advance diversity, inclusion and belonging efforts across the organization.  We work with other BRGs at Thomson Reuters to elevate our collective impact and share best practices.
    • Aspire to Lead Conference: Since 2012, Women at Thomson Reuters has sponsored the Aspire to Lead Conference (driven by our Minneapolis-St. Paul chapter and open to all employees globally). Aspire to Lead brings together powerful speakers, skill-building workshops, and networking opportunities to inspire women and allies to lead with confidence in their profession and communities.  It is a signature program for our BRG and continuously receives positive feedback from leaders and employees across the company.

Kathryn, a member of Women at Thomson Reuters Canada chapter, shared what she values about being a member of the network. “As a proud member of Women at Thomson Reuters, I have had the privilege of collaborating with and learning from exceptional women who have enriched my professional journey. Being part of Women at Thomson Reuters has empowered me to actively listen to the aspirations and needs of other women in their careers.”

Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day 2024

Throughout March, we celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day globally. Our Women at Thomson Reuters chapters from across the globe planned a wide range of sessions for colleagues to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness about challenges and opportunities, and get inspired to make positive change.

Our global chapter for Women at Thomson Reuters held a virtual panel focused on the theme of #InspireInclusion which featured a diverse panel from across our ten BRGs, focusing on what inclusion means to them.

Our Hyderabad and Bangalore offices in India celebrated with a volunteer event to assemble menstrual kits and distribute them to local shelters, schools, and organizations supporting women in need in those cities.

Our Zug, Switzerland office kicked-off International Women’s Day with an introductory panel discussion with their new exec sponsors for our Swiss chapter.

Our Toronto office hosted a Watch Party to watch the Allyship at Work session and followed the event with a meaningful discussion on what they learned about enabling allyship at work.

Our Spain office celebrated International Women’s Day with the #InspireInclusion theme.

Several members of our executive team in Toronto celebrated the #InspireInclusion theme.
